Here’s the simplest mind reading guide that anyone can use and everyone should use. Use these really simple body language cum mind reading tricks to figure out what a person is really thinking and give yourself an edge in any conversation,
1. Crossed arms and legs means ‘Yeah Whatever’
If you feel that you are not really convincing them just see if their arms are crossed. Crossed arms mean defensiveness, opposition to your ideas. ‘Yeah Whatever’! Adress their fears, ask questions, get them to talk and open up.
2. Eyes will tell you that the smile is fake
If the smile is genuine the eyes will light up, widen and crackle. If they are forcibly doing it, ease out a little and try to make them comfortable first.
3. If they are really interested they will copy your action
If they nod when you nod, smile when you smile and repeat when you speak means they are really interested and actually listening.
4. Eyes betray the liars
‘Look them in the eye’, if they are lying they will not be able to hold your gaze. It takes a master liar to look you in the eye and lie to your face.
5. Raised eyebrows means discomfort
They’ll raise their eyebrows if they are worried, afraid or surprised. Which means you should slow down, go easy! (unless you want them to be excited in which case this means it’s working).
6. Too much nodding means they are agreeing but they don’t want to
If they don’t naturally agree with you but they have to agree because they are worried about what you’d think of them they nod more than needed. So next time an employee or subordinate is ‘playing noddy’, it’s probably because your presence is making them anxious.
7. Posture speaks about their confidence
A confident person who ‘takes the charge’ will have an erect and open posture that appears to maximize the amount of space he fills. Under-confident person, on the other hand, will slouch, ‘stay-shut’ and avoid ‘being noticed’.
8. Clenched jaw means stress
If you don’t agree, notice your jaw during a crucial sales meeting or when the partner/boss says ‘we need to talk‘.
9. Feet pointed away means ‘You are so full of shit I want to run away’
How do you tell when someone wants to avoid/evade the conversation (I’d rather be somewhere else) but is just being polite? Simple, their feet will be pointed away from you rather than towards. Because the feet subconsciously follow their minds and are ‘ready to run’ soon as they get a chance.
10. Hand in the pocket means unwillingness, mistrust, and reluctance
And if it’s both hands that means trouble (you need to gain interest and trust before making your point). Perfect indication when you are pitching someone.
The reason why these tricks are so useful is, people mostly concentrate too much on their words. They try to control what they say. Their body, on the other hand, is controlled by their subconscious mind and thus it reveals a lot about what ‘they are really thinking‘. Which
Which of these tricks have you used without ever realizing ? Let me know in the comments. See you next time.
